Northwest Territories Outbeat Yukon and Nunavut In Chances of Finding The One

The Northwest Territories are actually the top spot for finding love in Canada out of the three territories. With a population of 41,070, they’ve got 10 Google searches for local speed dating events, 20 for dating apps, and 10 more searches for each dating-related terms like “how to find the right partner,” “Hinge dating”, “Facebook dating”, “Bumble dating”, “Tinder dating”, and more. This all added up to a total of 260 searches or 63.31 searches per 10k  googling topics related to love. That’s about 0.63% based on the population, which is the highest percentage among all the territories.

Yukon is a close second for finding love. With a population of 40,232, the territory has had 250 Google searches related to love, which is about 0.62% based on the population or 62.14 searches per 10k people. The most popular search term over the past year in Yukon has been “Facebook dating,” with 20 searches.

Nunavut is the worst place for love seekers out of the territories for love struck people.  With a population of 36,858 people there were 210 searches for topics such as  “speed dating”, “dating apps”, and relationship advice for “how to find the right partner.” This equals out to 0.57% based on the population or 56.98 searches per 10k. 

Top Three Worst Places to Find Love in Canada Provinces

When it comes to finding love in Canada provinces Quebec, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador unfortunately round out the bottom three. 

Quebec ranks as the least favorable place to find love out of all the provinces. With a population of 8,501,833, it has a low search percentage based on population of just 0.14%. The total number of searches related to love is 12,200 (that’s 14.35 love searches per 10k) which is relatively low given the province large population. The most popular search term in Quebec is “Facebook dating,” with 2,900 searches.

Newfoundland and Labrador are not far behind, with a population of 510,550. About 0.20% of the population search for love-related topics, which translates to roughly 19.98 searches per 10k people. The most popular search term is “Facebook dating,” with 320 searches dedicated to it.

Manitoba ranks third from the bottom, with a population of 1,342,153. Around 0.24% of the population searches for love-related terms on Google, such as “how to find the right partner,” “best dating sites,” and “Bumble dating,” amounts to about 24.14 searches per 10k people. The most popular search terms in Manitoba are “dating app” and “Facebook dating,” each with 720 searches.

Speed dating searches get 25%, showing how much people are into going to events where they can meet new partners. 

Another 25% goes to dating app searches, reflecting how popular online dating is in each state. 

Plus, searches for how to find the right partner make up 20%, showing how interested people are in getting relationship advice. 

Top 3 Best States to Find Love

With a population of 4.2 million, Oregon is the best spot for those looking for love in 2024! Oregonians are actively searching for dating options, with 15,790 Google searches related to love. This accounts for about 0.37% of searches based on the population, or roughly 37.26 searches per 10k people. There have even been 10 searches on "how to find the right partner," showing an interest in serious relationships. The love-related term "Facebook dating" is the top search in Oregon, with 1,900 searches over the last 12 months!

Colorado ranks second, with a population of 5,773,714. The state had 21,510 Google searches for love-related topics, such as "Facebook dating," "how to find the right partner," and "free dating sites." This represents 0.37% of searches based on the population, or about 37.26 searches per 10k people actively looking for a partner.

Florida ranks in the top three for finding love in the US. With a population of 21,538,187, the state generated 73,600 love-related Google searches over the past 12 months. This amounts to about 0.34% of searches based on the population, or 34.17 searches per 10k people. The term "dating apps" received the highest search volume, with 22,200 searches.

Looking for Love? Why Singles Might Want to Avoid Mississippi 

When it comes to finding love, Mississippi is the toughest spot for singles. With a population of nearly 3 million, the state had just 6,130 searches related to dating. This represents about 0.21% of searches based on the population, or 20.70 searches per 10k people.

West Virginia, with a population of around 1,7 million, isn’t great for finding love either. It’s the second worst state for romance, with just 3,960  total searches related to dating. This includes 50 searches for the term “speed dating,” 1,000 searches on term  “dating apps,” and only 10 searches on how to find the right partner. All this adds up to just 0.22% searches based on the population or 22.08 searches per 10k.

Lastly, Alaska ranks at the bottom for finding love. With a population of 733,391, only 0.22% of searches based on the population, or about 22.09 searches per 10k people, are looking for love-related terms.

Methodology

To figure out which territories and states are the best for finding love, we looked at 26 love-related search terms such as  speed dating, dating apps, and tips on finding the right partner in the US and Canada over the last 12 months. We added up these searches for each state/territory/province and adjusted for population size to get a clearer picture of how they are finding the one.
