The third meeting between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder takes place on October 9 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The fight hit the boxing schedule not long after Fury, who fought Wilder to a draw in December 2018 and defeated him in February 2020, agreed to face Anthony Joshua for the undisputed heavyweight title. That fight was to take place on August 14 in Saudi Arabia, but Wilder won an arbitration hearing that forced Fury to face him for a third time before September.
Fury and Wilder were scheduled to meet in that trilogy contest in July at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, but Fury contracted COVID-19 and had to withdraw from the contest. The bout is now scheduled to take place on October 9 at T-Mobile Arena. Fury puts his WBC and The Ring heavyweight titles on the line in the upcoming scrap.

Tyson Fury (1.30) vs. Deontay Wilder (3.30)
Wilder was the favourite ahead of the first matchup between these two. He had a record of 40-0 and had won all but one of those contests by knockout. Wilder looked like the smart pick as he dropped Fury to the mat in the ninth round. He looked like an ever better pick when he dropped Fury a second time in the 12th round, but a stunned crowd of nearly 18,000 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles witnessed Fury get back to his feet and finish the fight. Despite the knockdowns, the fight ended in a draw.
Like the first fight, Wilder was favoured in the rematch. He wasn’t as big a favourite in that bout, but the oddsmakers still liked him. That second meeting between the two took place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Wilder had knocked out Dominic Breazeale and Luis Ortiz prior to the rematch, while Fury scored a TKO over Tom Schwarz and a decision over Otto Wallin. Fury doled out enough damage in the second bout that Wilder’s corner threw in the towel — much to the fighter’s chagrin, in the seventh stanza.
Neither man has fought since the February 2020 rematch between them.
Tyson Fury to Beat Deontay Wilder
Despite the split draw and TKO loss, Wilder has a chance to win this fight and that chance comes down to his power. With all but one of his 42 career wins coming by way of knockout, Wilder always has a chance to catch his opponent’s flush and end their night, but the advantage Fury has in this contest is he has already fought Wilder for 19 rounds. In other words, Fury should know what his opponent is going to bring to the ring and he should be able to figure out a way to decrease the danger.
I think Fury will do what he did in the second meeting to negate the power of Wilder and that is close the distance and fight in close. If Wilder doesn’t have space or time, he won’t be able to get the power he needs on his punches to catch Fury with enough force to knock him down or out.
I also think that fighting in close will frustrate Wilder and sap his energy, which only benefits Fury.
My prediction is that Fury will score another TKO win over Wilder in this trilogy bout.
The wildcard in this scrap is the huge matchup that is hanging out there for Fury vs. Joshua. That fight, a rare heavyweight title unification bout should provide all the motivation Fury needs to focus on getting Wilder out of his way and thus opening the door to an enormous payday and possibly a place in the boxing history books.
