Run With GoT And Sweep The Bookies Clean At Emmys

Run with GoT and sweep the bookies clean at Emmys

We The People don’t agree on many things these days, but there’s a strong global consensus around one issue: Game of Thrones is the biggest TV show in the world in 2019.

You can see this by looking at the 2019 Emmy nominations, where GoT’s last season collected a record breaking 32 Emmy Nominations, beating NYPD Blue’s 1994 record of 26 nominations easily.

The most important nomination is in the category for Outstanding Drama, which GoT has already collected three times in the past. A fourth Emmy as the best Drama series would not come as a surprise, but let’s look at the other categories where GoT is expected to win.

Outstanding Drama

Ok, I said that we’d look at the other categories, but let’s check the odds for the main category first.

Outstanding Drama
Game of Thrones1.22
Killing Eve5.50
Better Call Saul17.00
Pose21.00
This is Us34.00
Bodyguard34.00
Ozark36.00
Succession51.00

1.22 for GoT – that’s not much, but it’s pretty much in the bag; previous season’s already won this and it’s hard to see any of the contenders taking it from GoT.

If you must bet on some other show, go for one of the competitors with odds north of 20.

Single recommendation: Game of Thrones – 1.22.

Outstanding lead actor in a drama

One thing that GoT lacks compared to many of it’s Emmy Awards competitors is a strong leader, an icon who personifies the whole show; the Jason Bateman of Ozarks or Bob Odenkirk of Better Call Saul.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama
Jason Bateman (Ozark)2.00
Billy Porter (Pose)3.50
Bob Odenkirk (Better Caul Saul)4.00
Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones) 13.00
Sterling K. Brown (This is Us)23.00
Milo Ventimiglia (This is Us)34.00

However, GoT is by far the biggest show on TV in 2019 and the fact that this season was the last, well, it boosts Kit Harington’s changes to win the Emmy by a lot. His odds of 13 are really juicy.

Btw, Harington was nominated in 2016 in the supporting actor category, but had to watch Ben Mendelsohn take home the trophy for his role in Bloodline.

Recommendation: Kit Harington – 13.00
GoT Parley: 1.22 x 13 = 15.86

Outstanding lead actress in a drama

Emilia Clarke has been nominated for an Emmy for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the supporting category before – three times in fact (2013, 2015, 2016) – but this time she’s competing for the leading actress role.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama
Sandra Oh (Killing Eve)1.30
Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones)5.50
Jodie Comer (Killing Eve)7.00
Robin Wright (House of Cards) 41.00
Laura Linney (Ozark)41.00
Viola Davis (How to get away Murder) 51.00
Mandy Moore (This is Us) 5151.00

Sandra Oh is the odds favorite to win, but I would not go past Clarke’s odds of 5.5 when making my bets for the Emmys.

Recommendation: Emilia Clare – 5.50
GoT Parley: 1.22 x 13 x 5.5 = 87.23

Outstanding supporting actress in a drama

The last category that we’ll look at is the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama, which is dominated by GoT with four of the 6 nominations.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama
Julia Garner (Ozark)2.00
Lena Headey (Game of Thrones)4.00
Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones)5.00
Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve)9.00
Gwendoline Christine (Game of Thrones)10.00
Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones)21.00

GoT was packed with talented young actresses, but this time a little experience will go a long way; Lena Headey is our favorite to win even though Julia Garner is superb in Ozarks.

Recommendation: Lena Headey – 4.00

GoT Parley: 1.22 x 13 x 5.5 x 4 = 348.92
