It’s time for the PGA Tour Playoffs! The top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings will do battle this week at TPC Southwind in the first of three playoff events. There’s plenty on the line as players are also battling for exemptions to Signature Events and Presidents Cup spots in addition to potentially hoisting the FedEx Cup.

The field will be cut to 50 players for next week’s BMW Championship and then to 30 players for the TOUR Championship the following week. A $25 million bonus awaits the winner of the Playoffs, and the runner-up will receive $12.5 million for their efforts, so motivation will be high for the golfers in the field.
Canadians in the field
Corey Conners (+3500 to win at Bet99): Conners is coming off a T9 at the Olympics, and he’s had respectable showings in majors this year, with his best finish coming at the U.S. Open (T9). He hasn’t won a tournament this season, but he’s posted three top-10 finishes and ranks fourth on Tour in Strokes Gained: Approach to Green.
Taylor Pendrith (+7500 at Bet99): Pendrith is having a great season, notching a win and six top-10 finishes to this point. He’s coming off a pair of top-five results and is in fine form entering this event. If you’re looking for a deep sleeper, take a look at him.
Adam Hadwin (+15000 to win at bet365): Hadwin is coming off a T28 at the Wyndham Championship, and his season has largely been boom or bust. He hasn’t won on Tour this year, but he has posted five top-10 finishes, including a third-place finish at The Memorial at Muirfield Village.
Mackenzie Hughes (+15000 to win at bet365): Hughes has made five straight cuts and he needs a strong showing at this event in order to increase his likelihood of Signature Event eligibility. He has three top-10 finishes this year but hasn’t won an event yet.
Nick Taylor (+17500 at bet365): Taylor finished 30th at the Olympics, and he missed two cuts prior to the international event. He did win the Phoenix Open earlier this year, but he’s not in great form right now.

Three golfers to back
Rory McIlroy (+1000 @ bet365): The three-time FedEx Cup champion (2016, 2019, 2022) could be a force to be reckoned with this week, and he obviously performs well under pressure come Playoff time. McIlroy finished T5 at the Olympics after missing the cut at the British Open. Prior to The Open, though, he posted a pair of top-five finishes at the Scottish Open and U.S. Open. Rory finished T3 at TPC Southwind last year, so he’s one of the players to watch this week. It’s not often we see McIlroy, who usually has some of the shortest odds heading into any given event, with odds in the +1000 range.
Billy Horschel (+4000 @ bet365): Horschel is playing some incredible golf right now, finishing T2 at the British Open and then following it up with a T7 result at the Wyndham. Additionally, he boasts an impressive track record at this event, with five top-10 finishes. Horschel’s well-rounded game makes him a serious threat this week, and the +4000 odds aren’t too shabby, either. He ranks 10th on Tour in Strokes Gained: Putting, 11th in scrambling, and 14th in sand saves. When the pressure is increased a notch or two in the Playoffs, it helps to have an impressive short game.
Sam Burns (+5000 @ NorthStar Bets): Burns is another value pick that could post a strong result this week. He has six top-10 finishes this year, and two of those have come over his last six events. Burns is coming off a T12 at the 3M Open after he collapsed in the final round at the British Open with an 80 to squander an excellent opportunity to challenge for the major title. Burns was in second heading into that final round at The Open, but you have to love the way he recovered with a solid showing at the 3M. He lost this event in a playoff back in 2021 and will be hungry to post another fantastic result.
