Below is the table for the main award, the “Album of the Year”. Rodrigo still stands ahead of everyone though Billie Eilish is not far behind. Heavyweights like Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Lil Nas X could close the gap as the ceremony draws nearer.
64th Grammys Preview: Rodrigo Set To Dominate?
Each year, the Grammys are defined by one or two artists. Last year, Beyonce dominated by bringing home the most awards (four) thanks to having the most nominations (nine). This year, Jon Batiste leads the field with 11 though Rodrigo is not far behind with seven.
Rodrigo’s secret weapon in this ceremony is her breakout single, “Driver’s License”. This debut single quickly took 2021 by storm. It broke several records and was widely praised both by fans and critics. But she did not stop here. Shortly after, her debut album Sour was a hit both commercially and critically.
But the Californian’s success has not come without some pushback. She’s received several criticisms and accusations of plagiarism. Courtney Love alleged she “copied” her album cover while fans have pointed to some of Rodrigo’s songs sounding too similar to songs from Paramore or Taylor Swift.
Rodrigo would credit the artists she’s taken “inspiration” from but this did not even slow down her hype. At this point, Rodrigo remains the darling of the music world and she could be the next big pop sensation since Bruno Mars, who dominated at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards with six wins.
Pop artists like Rodrigo have generally held sway at this award show. Beyonce has the record for most Grammys won by a female artist while Adele, Lady Gaga, and Swift have won double-digit awards.
While Rodrigo has the best chances on the main awards per the entertainment online betting odds, it’s far from guaranteed that she will walk home with arms full of awards.
Let’s examine the four awards she’s leading to see which of these she’s likely or unlikely to win and what we can bet online.
2022 Grammys Best Picks: Rodrigo Versus The Field
The big four Grammy Awards or the “general field” consists of four categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist. Rodrigo is the favourite on all of these according to Bet99 and similar sports betting sites.
But as recent odds, like the 2022 Oscar odds have revealed, upsets do happen. They may not be that common, but if Rodrigo gets upset in a pair of these, we would not be shocked. With that said, she is all but a lock-in at least two awards.
Best New Artist Winner
Do you want shocking? If Olivia Rodrigo does not win the “Best New Artist” category it would be the biggest upset since Anthony Hopkins beat Chadwick Boseman at the Academy Awards. Rodrigo’s odds place her at an 87.6% chance of winning it.
A mile away is The Kid Laroi at 7.50. While he has received widespread acclaim himself, he did not break the Internet quite like Rodrigo. Either max bet Rodrigo here or just pass.
Song of the Year Winner
The next award Rodrigo should safely snag is the “Song of the Year”. This award is given to the actual songwriter/singer. Driver’s License has already won a pair of MTV Video Music Awards and the Apple Music Awards and has been nominated in other major ceremonies.
Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever” is a distant second at 3.50 while Silk Sonic’s “Leave The Door Open” is at third at 7.00. Neither has received the same support as Driver’s License. Justin Bieber’s “Peaches” is a long shot at 34.00. This one should be another easy bet for Rodrigo.
Record of the Year Winner
The B-side (or A-side) to Song of the Year is “Record of the Year”, which will include all the other contributors to the song. This is why Driver’s License has longer odds (2.60) and why Leave The Door Open is at second at 4.25. While Driver’s License is likely to win this one, we can’t ignore the odds on Leave The Door Open.
The song/record contains several heavyweights in the industry like Bruno Mars and D-Mile, both Grammy Award winners. The record has also dominated charts and won the Song of the Year in the Soul Train Music Awards so we’re taking a shot at this.
Album of the Year Winner
As the biggest award of the Grammy’s, Album of the Year can be the trickiest to predict, especially in a pretty competitive field like this year. We give the slight edge to Rodrigo’s Sour, but not too far behind is Billie Eilish’s Happier Than Ever. Some experts even consider this to be a 50/50.
While Sour wins on popularity and commercial success, Happier Than Ever has gotten considerable support from music critics. This is not the fans voting so with a chance at more than doubling our wager, let’s be Happier Than Ever.
