Novak Djokovic Goes for Sixth Title at the Paris Masters
We have not seen too much of Novak Djokovic the last few months – as the 20-time Grand Slam champ has only played in two events since the end of June. However, it looks like he has enough rest following his loss to Daniil Medvedev at the 2021 US Open and is ready to compete.
No player in the history of the ATP Paris Masters is better at the event than Novak Djokovic. Djokovic holds just about every record imaginable at the tournament – including titles (five), finals appearances (six), consecutive finals (2013 to 2015), consecutive titles (2013 to 2015), wins (45), and consecutive wins (17).
Djokovic’s dominance at the tournament is evident. It also feels he is due to win an event. Djokovic won four of seven events from February to June – with the three losses all on clay. Since Wimbledon, he is winless in two tournaments. Go with a hungry Djokovic to win the event, which would also clinch him the number spot in the ATP Rankings for 2021.
Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime goes for singles Title after Winning Doubles in 2020
While Felix Auger-Aliassime results in the singles tournament last year – were a disaster (losing in the first round) – the young Canadian managed to save some face. Auger-Aliassime with partner Hubert Hurkacz went on to claim victory in the 2020 men’s doubles tournament.
Since the tournament, Auger-Aliassime has improved. He has climbed the rankings from no. 21 to no. 12 in the world and made the finals at Stuttgart – where he lost to the same guy who knocked him out of the 2020 Paris Master Marin Cilic.
His best performance this year came on the hardcourt – when he advanced to the 2021 US Open Finals. He played Daniil Medvedev hard falling to the event champ 6-4, 7-5, 6-2. We do not know the draw yet – but it seems if he can avoid Marin Cilic, Felix Auger-Aliassime has a great shot at winning in Paris.
Karen Khachanov is the Best Underdog to Bet to Win the 2021 Paris Masters
If you are looking for an underdog to bet at the 2021 Paris Masters – Karen Khachanov is the best wager. The world no. 29 has an interesting history in four appearances at the Paris Masters. In three appearances in Paris – Khachanov lost in the first round. However, the other appearance was quite spectacular.
Karen Khachanov won the 2018 Paris Masters tournament. To pick up the victory, he had to through a gauntlet of talented and high-ranked tennis players. To reach the finals, Khachanov beat world number eight John Isner, world number four Alexander Zverev, and world number six Dominic Thiem.
In the finals, Khachanov pulled off the biggest win of his career – beating world number two Novak Djokovic 7-5, 6-4. We are not sure what the best Canadian sportsbook tennis odds will be on Khachanov heading into the tournament. We feel though he will be one of the bigger underdogs – and think this is the time he rekindles some of the magic that made him the 2018 champ.
