One of the top receiving talents in the NFL is on the trade block, and that’s left several Super Bowl contenders licking their lips at the chance to acquire Davante Adams.
On Monday, Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce appeared to “like” a social media post that suggested Adams should be traded, sparking the newest round of trade rumours.
According to multiple reports, Adams has since informed the Las Vegas Raiders he prefers to be traded, with the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints being his most-desired destinations. A move to either of those teams would reunite Adams with two quarterbacks — Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr — he’s previously thrived playing alongside.
Davante Adams to be traded to New York Jets

Bet Now!The NFL trade deadline is the Tuesday after Week 9, which lands on Nov. 5. So there’s plenty of time for the Raiders to get a deal done.
Adams has a $16.8 million base salary this year that is fully guaranteed, which complicates potential trade scenarios with contending teams that already have high payrolls. He’s also due to make $35.6 million in 2025 and $36.6 million in 2026 but with no guaranteed money. Adams does not have a no-trade clause, so he won’t need to approve a prospective deal.
The 31-year-old is coming off his third straight 1,000-yard season, and he has 18 receptions for 209 yards and a touchdown in three starts. He didn’t play last week due to a hamstring injury, which is being considered a week-to-week ailment at this point.

Handicapping a potential trade
According to reports, the Raiders’ asking price for Adams is a second-round pick with additional compensation, which seems incredibly realistic. If that is the case, it could open up the field to several more suitors for the veteran wideout’s services.
It’s easy to see why the Jets are the favourites to land his services. The team is all-in this year for a Super Bowl run with Rodgers at the helm, and there’s no telling when the 40-year-old quarterback will call it a career. This could be his last shot at Super Bowl glory. Rodgers recently publicly stated he’d love to play with Adams again before hanging up his cleats, and the two have a very public friendship and mutual respect for each other.
The Jets already have a legitimate top receiver in Garrett Wilson, who has 20 catches for 191 yards this season. However, another one of Rodgers’ former Packers teammates, Allen Lazard, actually leads the team with three touchdown catches and 206 receiving yards. New York also boasts veteran Mike Williams in its receiving corps, so should adding another receiving option to the mix really be the team’s top priority leading up to the trade deadline? But perhaps the asking price is low enough that it’s a gamble worth taking. Either way, the Jets are an obvious landing spot for Adams, with roughly $16 million in cap space to work with.
Before you log in to your online sportsbook account and throw down on the Jets, don’t discount the Saints as a possible landing spot. Adams played with Carr in college at Fresno State and previously with the Raiders for one season. Adams also has a great relationship with the team’s receivers coach, Keith Williams, who has been described as a “mentor” while previously working as a private receivers coach with Adams. New Orleans has less cap flexibility (roughly $2.7 million) than New York, but there are ways to make a deal happen.
Other potential longshot destinations include the Pittsburgh Steelers (+1100) and Kansas City Chiefs (+3000). Pittsburgh, which is off to a surprising 3-1 start this season, has a need at the receiver position, and it would potentially need to rework Adams’ contract beyond this season. Kansas City is dealing with an injury to receiver Rashee Rice, leaving a hole in its receiving corps depth chart. Pairing Adams with Patrick Mahomes has the potential to be downright scary. Both of those teams don’t have a ton of salary cap space to work with, but it’s entirely possible to make a potential deal happen with a little massaging.
