The Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) look to shine again on primetime when the ‘Yinzers take on the dastardly flawed New York Giants (2-5) for your Week 8 edition of Monday Night Football.
Bet on Giants vs. Steelers
NYG +6.0
PIT -6.0
When Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin decided to start Russell Wilson over the dependable Justin Fields last week, everyone was expecting the worst. Nevertheless, the “washed-up” Wilson threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns. Not to mention, he made the idled George Pickens look like the second coming of Hines Ward. On the other hand, Daniel Jones and the New York Giants haven’t looked that great. HOWEVER, who knows, Jones might decide to ball out under the bright lights, knowing very well that his starting job might be on the line.
The Giants vs. Steelers MNF matchup might end up being a snooze fest, but by placing a bet on the latest Monday Night Football odds, things could get a little interesting. Below, we’ve provided you with the latest odds, best betting trends, and expert predictions ahead of tonight’s kickoff so you can load up your bet slip with (POTENTIALLY) winning wagers.

About the Giants (2-5 SU, 3-4 ATS, 1-6 o/u)
The New York Giants are the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of the NFL. Look, when the Giants want to compete, the team can give anyone a run for their money. Heck, Jones and the Giants had every chance to beat the rival Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, only losing by a score of 20-15 and covering the +6 spread. Before and after that game, New York strung together some decent wins over teams that were, at the time, predicted to do okay in their respective seasons.
Now, those games are UGLY when the Giants don’t show up. We could give you stat after stat that tells you how atrocious the Giants played, but instead, we’d ask you to imagine watching a head-on car crash in slow motion. That’s what a bad Giants game looks like.
About the Steelers (5-2 SU, 5-2 ATS, 3-4 o/u)
Hey, there were a lot of “experts” out there saying that this would be Mike Tomlin’s first losing season as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Seven games in, and the Steelers are three wins away from guaranteeing Tomlin another .500 season. Much of that is thanks to the play of quarterback Justin Fields. The first of two newly acquired QBs, Fields has passed for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns, and has only thrown one interception. Not forgetting to mention, Fields has rushed for 231 yards on 55 carries and has five rushing touchdowns to boot.
Nevertheless, Coach Tomlin had to give Wilson a start, and that decision paid off in dividends. If a Wilson prop bet was available last week, it probably hit the over, other than his interception prop.
Throughout the season, the Steelers have been public darlings, and we won’t be shocked if the ‘Yinzers take the bulk of the betting action in tonight’s MNF game.
Line Movement
This line opened at Steelers -4, but Pittsburgh has received a lot of money, forcing the bookmakers to move the spread to Steelers -6.5. We wouldn’t be shocked if the line surpassed -7 by game time, but it holds at Pittsburgh -6 right now.
As most will theorize, this is a mismatch no matter how anyone slices it up.
Injury Report
Here are both teams’ injury reports for Week 8:
Weather
The weather in Pittsburgh is set to have clear skies and a temperature of approximately 14 C. There will be some minor winds to contend with, but they should not impact the outcome of the game.
NFL Betting Trends
- In four of nine home games last year, Pittsburgh went Over the total.
- The Steelers are 2-1 ATS when favourites of -2.5 or more at home this year.
- The Giants are 3-0 ATS when underdogs of +6.5 or more this season
- The Giants have struggled to score points on the road this season, which helps the team to sport a 0-3 O/U record.
NFL Player Prop Trends
- Steelers superstar linebacker TJ Watt’s 0.5 Sacks line is priced at -210. So far this season, Watt has gone Over the line in four of seven games and should get a good chance to destroy Jones in Week 8
- Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has a knack for hitting the Over on his Passing + Rushing yards prop on primetime TV. Even though Jones’ Giants have gone 0-2 SU when the lights shine the brightest this season, he’s hit the Over on that specific prop both times.
- Steelers wideout George Pickens’ receiving yards prop has been set around 57.5 following his stunning performance in Week 7, during which he recorded 111 yards on five receptions. It’s worth mentioning he’s covered this line in three of seven games this season.
TJ Watt Over 0.5 Sacks
-210
Bet Now!Giants vs. Steelers Predictions
- We know you’re drooling to back the Steelers to cover, but we’ll argue this is a great spot to buy low on the god-forsaken New York Giants to cover. The Giants do a good enough job on the defensive side of the ball to give the Steelers’ weak O-Line a run for its money. If New York can pressure Wilson and force him to go outside the pocket, there’s a better-than-good chance Pittsburgh won’t be able to pass the ball efficiently. If the Steelers can’t get the passing game going, it makes the run-it-up-the-middle style of offence way more predictable and easier to stop. That’s not to say the Steelers can’t win SU, but this has all the makings of a classic “Steelers let down” game.
- It’s hard to argue against the Under in this spot. Pittsburgh’s defence has been loosey-goosey lately, but it’s hard to see the Giants getting more than 10 points, especially being 0-3 O/U on the road. Last week’s 37-point performance from Pittsburgh feels more like an outlier game than indicative of what’s to come. Realistically speaking, seeing a 20-17 score by the time everything is said and done tonight wouldn’t be shocking.
