About the Bengals (4-8 SU, 6-6 ATS, 9-3 o/u)

The 2024 season unraveled quickly for the Bengals after entering the year as one of the top contenders to win the AFC. They started 0-3 and never improved, as they currently sit with a .333 win-percentage and a three-game losing streak.

Even with an elite offence chock-full of talent, such as quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, the Bengals have been unable to close out games and come away with victories.

While they’ve been on the losing side of things more often than not this season, the same can’t be said about them as a betting option. Sporting a 50% record against the spread, the Bengals have been solid both as favourites and underdogs in this regard.

An area that the Bengals have excelled in that has been boosting bankrolls all season long is in hitting the over. With nine of their 12 games having exceeded the projected point total, the Bengals’ over has been a one of the top moneymakers this NFL season.

About the Cowboys (5-7 SU, 4-8 ATS, 8-4 o/u)

In yet another disappointing season, this year is set to be the Cowboys’ worst record-wise since 2020. After a pitiful offseason combined with a plague of injuries across the board throughout their current campaign, the Cowboys have spiralled into a tailspin in 2024.

While all hope was lost after losing franchise quarterback Dak Prescott, the Cowboys have rallied around new passer Cooper Rush as they’ve gone 2-2 with him under centre. While a division title is likely out of reach with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders jockeying for the top spot, the Cowboys could potentially vie for a wild-card spot if they’re able to win outright to finish the season.

While wins have come few and far between, they have been even worse against the spread. With a 33%-cover rate, nine of these games coming as an underdog, the Cowboys have been porous as a betting option in 2024.

The lone bright spot for the Cowboys this season has come from their ability to put together high-scoring matchups, with the bulk of this success stemming from their inability to keep their opponents outside of their end zone. While it may not be in a positive vain, the over has been a moneymaker for Cowboys bettors this season.

Key injuries

For the Bengals, they announced last Wednesday that kicker Evan McPherson is headed to the IR due to a groin injury. OT Orlando Brown (fibula) and DT Sheldon Rankings (illness) have been ruled out, while WR Charlie Jones (groin) is questionable.

Injuries have been a non-stop issue for the Cowboys this year, continuing on into Week 14 after announcing that All-Pro guard Zack Martin has officially been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a season-ending ankle surgery. Along with Martin’s absence, DB Juanyeh Thomas (knee) has also been ruled out, and OT Tyler Guyton (ankle), OLB Nick Vigial (foot), and CB Trevon Diggs (knee) are questionable.

Weather

No need to worry about weather conditions on Monday Night Football as this game will take place at AT&T Stadium which has a retractable roof.

  • The Bengals are 3-0 ATS as away favourites in 2024.
  • The Bengals have had more than 49.5 points scored in five consecutive games.
  • The Cowboys are 0-4 ATS as home underdogs in 2024.
  • Since Cooper Rush has become the full-time starting quarterback for the Cowboys, they’ve only had one game exceed 49.5 total points.
  • Leading the league in receiving touchdowns, Ja’Marr Chase has scored in three straight games. He is priced at -163 as an anytime touchdown scorer against the Cowboys.
  • Having a breakout sophomore season, Bengals running back (and Canadian) Chase Brown has his rushing yards total set at 73.5 yards. Brown has finished below this mark in nine of his 12 games played this season.
  • Coming off of a career-high 112 rushing yards against the Giants last week, Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle has his rushing yards line set at 64.5. Dowdle has exceeded this mark in three of his last five games played.
  • Over his last four games played, CeeDee Lamb has averaged 55 yards per game. His receiving yards total is currently set at 70.5 yards against the Bengals.

Bengals vs. Cowboys Predictions

  • Regardless of what their record says, the Bengals are likely one of the best teams talent-wise to ever miss the playoffs. With no shortage of tremendous playmakers on both sides of the ball, the Bengals still possess elite potential. Facing a banged-up Cowboys team that is likely going to struggle to match the offensive scoring ability of the Bengals, look for the AFC North squad to easily cover 5.5 points against Dallas on Monday Night Football.
  • While the over has been a popular bet to make for both teams competing in this matchup, the under is the smart bet to make on Monday Night Football. With the Cowboys offensive line in dire straits, the Bengals defence may finally be able to put up a strong showing, preventing scoring drives from their opponents, while their offence continues their usual dominance. Once the Bengals pull out to a convincing lead, look for them to coast to the finish line, resulting in a lower than average final score for both sides.
