The Toronto Raptors will be back in action on Monday night when they host the San Antonio Spurs at Scotiabank Arena.

Toronto has won six straight games against the Spurs, including its most recent match up on Nov. 5 in San Antonio, where the Raptors erased a 17-point deficit for their largest fourth quarter comeback of the year in a 123-116 overtime victory. Scottie Barnes finished that contest with 30 points (including 17 in the final frame), 11 rebounds, six assists, three steals and three blocks.

The Spurs have dropped seven games (1-6 against the spread) after falling 123-103 to the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.

About the Spurs (10-43 SU, 24-29 ATS, 27-24-2 o/u)

The Spurs have the third-worst record in the NBA (10-43) and the worst in the Western Conference entering play Monday. The team owns its first-round pick in the upcoming draft, so wins down the stretch aren’t a priority as the team seeks a high lottery pick.

Of course, you can’t mention the Spurs without touching on Rookie of the Year favourite (-280 at bet365) Victor Wembanyama, who leads the team in points (20.3), rebounds (10), blocks (3), and steals (1.1) per game. His three blocks per game lead the NBA and he’s posted a double-double in three of his last five games. This will be the first time Wemby has played north of the border and it will also be the only time this season he graces the floor in Canada as the teams conclude their two-game set.

About the Raptors (19-34 SU, 25-28 ATS, 28-25 o/u)

Toronto newcomers Ochai Agbaji and Kelly Olynyk, acquired from the Utah Jazz ahead of last Thursday’s trade deadline, both made their debuts in Saturday’s 119-95 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Olynyk scored 11 points in 22 minutes and Agbaji had eight points in 20 minutes.

Scottie Barnes recorded 24 points, 10 rebounds and a season high-tying 10 assists against Cleveland for his fourth career triple-double (third this season). Barnes is the first Raptor to record three 20-point triple-doubles in a single season and now ranks third on Toronto’s all-time triple-doubles list, trailing only Kyle Lowry (16) and Pascal Siakam (five). Barnes joins Domantas Sabonis, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and LeBron James as one of just six players to record three triple-doubles this season. Barnes is +1500 to accomplish the feat against the Spurs.

Both of these teams have done a great job of sharing the ball this season and are tied for second in the NBA in assists per game (29.2). The Raptors have dished out a franchise-record 1,549 helpers through their first 53 contests this year, nearly 200 more than their previous record (1,360: 2019-20 campaign). Barnes is averaging a career-best 5.9 assists this season, while Immanuel Quickley is also averaging a career-high 5.9 helpers over his 18 games with Toronto.

• Wembanyama has drained two three-pointers or more in four straight games and in seven of his last 10. He’s -160 to record over 1.5 threes.

Wagers to consider

• Barnes is getting more minutes at point guard since the team traded away Dennis Schroder to the Nets and is facilitating more for his teammates as a result. He’s posted eight and 10 assists, respectively, in two games since his role was slightly changed. Take the over on 6.5 assists (-115).
• Boosted SGP: Raptors moneyline, Barnes triple-double: +2000. This is a longshot, but Barnes is coming off a triple-double performance and his recent surge in assists gives him a greater chance of accomplishing the feat. Throw a sprinkle on another big night from Scottie.
