Enjoy Week 15 of the 2021 Canadian Football League Season with our betting predictions.
It is the second last week of the 2021 CFL Regular Season – with plenty on the line as teams vie for playoff seeding. We cover each of the four games in our CFL Week 15 2021 betting preview – including a huge showdown between southern Ontario rivals.
Hamilton and Toronto Duel in Week 15 Could Decide the East Division
With one game separating the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats for the East Division crown, this game is the must-watch matchup of Week 15. The best CFL betting odds from sportsbooks on Week 15 have this game essentially as a pick’em – although we could see some line movement throughout the week.
Neither team looked particularly great in Week 14. The Argonauts needed to mount a comeback against the lowly Ottawa Redblacks to clinch a three-point win, while Hamilton handed BC a sixth straight loss in an unconvincing fashion.
This game is the fourth time these two teams play this season. Toronto is up 2-1 this year, winning the last two meetings by a point each. We are leaning on Toronto to win this game – as the Argonauts are undefeated at home this season (5-0), while Hamilton is only 3-3 on the road.
Calgary Only Small Favourites Against the Ailing Lions
Despite the Lions’ losing streak and struggles at home this season, the Stampeders are less than a three-point favourite in British Columbia. These two teams played in Vancouver in Week 11 – with Calgary blowing out the Lions 39-10.
The Lions are a mess. They have given up at least 26 points in every game during their six-game losing streak. Calgary is playing well lately, winning four of their last five to move to .500 on the season. Calgary is also 4-1 against the spread in its last five games.
Calgary is the best bet of Week 15. The Stampeders – coming off a bye – are healthy and competitive. The Lions allow 410 yards of offence at home this season – with 317 coming through the air. Bo Levi Mitchell returning to form at quarterback is why the Stampeders are back in the mix after a slow start.
Mitchell should feast on a weak Lions secondary and get the Stampeders over .500 for the first time this season.
Alouettes look for Revenge at Home against the Blue Bombers
Montreal and Winnipeg meet for a second-straight week, with the venue moving from Winnipeg to Montreal. The Alouettes lost to Blue Bombers 31-21 in Week 14 – a good result against a team on a nine-game winning streak (with six wins by at least 15 points).
The game was tied 21-21 heading into the fourth quarter – before Winnipeg took a ten-point lead. The Blue Bombers going up forced the team to abandon the run game – which had been successful against Winnipeg over the first three quarters.
Montreal is one of the few teams in the CFL with an offence that can move the ball against Winnipeg. William Stanback rushed for 106 yards on 16 carries against Winnipeg – setting up the Alouettes for two passing touchdowns inside the ten.
We think there is good value betting on Montreal as home underdogs this weekend. Winnipeg’s one loss this season is their only road game (until this week) against an East Division opponent.
Saskatchewan can Clinch Home Playoff Game with Win against Edmonton
Saskatchewan aims for back-to-back wins against Edmonton on Saturday – this time as the home time. While Edmonton covered in Week 14 against the Roughriders, there are not many positives to take from the Elks – who are currently riding a seven-game losing streak.
A win by Saskatchewan guarantees this will host the East Division Semi-Finals (if Calgary wins and the Roughriders lose, it will go down to Week 16). To get to 8-4 and in a position to host a home playoff game – the Roughriders are relying on a stout defence.
The Roughriders are limiting teams to only 16 points per game during their three-game winning streak. They had only given up three points in the first three quarters against the Elks last week – before Edmonton added two late touchdowns to make it a game.
I expect Saskatchewan will not let their guard up in the rematch on Saturday. Take the Roughriders to win the game and clinch second in the West Division.
