Online Craps in Canada: Top Canada Craps Casinos 2024

While online craps has not seen a massive surge in interest, other online games like slots, blackjack, and roulette have over the past few years. But there is reason to be hopeful that this popular dice game will rise in popularity with some of the top online casinos in Canada, as technology breathes new life into an old game.

New live dealer versions of craps are rekindling interest in the game, which many people had shunned due to the use of random number generator software. The use of actual mechanical arms, which in some cases can be partially controlled by an online shooter, has restored some player’s trust in the actual random throw of the dice.

And as more technological progress is made, we fully expect to see more and more Canadians checking out online craps. After all, there is no one hollering at you to get your hands out of the way or slapping you on the back after every good roll. The payout is always correct, and no one will blow smoke in your face.

Now, if they could only figure out how to send somebody by the couch with a Molson every now and then, there’d be no need to leave the house to roll those bones.

Top Canada Online Craps Casinos

Let’s take a quick look at some of the best casino sites for Canadians to play craps, what games they have on offer, any interesting rules at the particular casino, and what else they offer to players.

Casumo Casino

The first of our recommended sites is Casumo. It has two great craps games from Evolution: one is a first-person RNG craps game, but it is beautifully rendered in some high-end salon with relaxing jazz in the background, and the other is a live dealer game with a mechanical throwing arm and actual dice. Both have table minimums under CA$1 and are a great place to learn the game. They only give 1x odds, but that is still very good.

They offer a CA$2,000 welcome bonus to all new players heading there from this site. Only 5% of craps play counts toward your 30x play-through, though. So you may need to find other games to play to earn it, though the terms say there is no time limit, so maybe dice only would work if you are patient.

888 Casino

888 Casino not only has the same two craps games offered by Evolution but a third craps game of their own that is RNG but fast-paced and generally with limits as low as Ca$.50. It also offers a vast array of other table games, including blackjack and roulette, plus has a top sportsbook, for Canadian players looking for an alternative type of betting. It’s definitely one of the best gambling sites all-round.

Their match is also up to a CA$1000 first deposit offer, but only 5% of your Craps play counts toward your 40x play-through. Here, we have only 90 days to finish the play-through, so you will have some decisions to make on which games you need to play to ensure you hit the play-through requirements. Also, for whatever reason, deposits made with Skrill or Netteller don’t trigger the bonus offer. Also, you’ll receive an instant $25 bonus when signing up, no deposit required.

bet365 Casino

Okay, so you won’t find any variations of craps at bet365 Casino. So why have we included it? Simply because it has a fantastic range of other games, including slots and table games, that casino fans won’t want to miss out on. And you never know – they could introduce craps tables to their lineup at some point. We also love them for doing the boring stuff well, such as payment options and customer support.

Sports Interaction Casino

You’ll find a single version of craps at Sports Interaction, and it’s Craps the Matrix – a strange game with a futuristic twist, but one we enjoyed playing. As with all the other best Canadian sites, you’ll also find a huge range of other games at Sports Interaction, including slots, blackjack, and roulette. Sports Interaction also offers one of the better live dealer casinos around – although there’s no live craps.

Bonus-wise, our readers can grab a 100% welcome bonus worth up to $3,000 when they make their first deposit. This is one of the larger welcome bonuses you’ll find at a craps casino.

ComeOn! Casino

This is another site not to offer craps, but we’ve included it in our list of recommended sites as it has plenty of other dice games to enjoy, including Dice Rush and the imaginatively named Dice. Plenty of other games are also offered, including an impressive array of Megaways slots and several games exclusive to their platform.

Our readers can get a 150% welcome bonus at ComeOn! Casino, worth up to $1,500, spread over their first three deposits.

How to Play Online Craps Games

Online craps couldn’t be simpler to learn. Learning about the twenty or more bets available on the craps table while playing craps online means you won’t have superstitious players giving you a hard time about saying the word seven or holding up the shooter by inquiring about bets. Plus, there are many online craps games you can play for free while you are learning.

Sign Up at a Reliable Casino

The first thing we will want to do is find a casino that we can trust with our money, and that is fair and regulated. We have some suggestions on this page, and you can find others by Googling and then doing a little research on their reviews on various social media sites.

Once we’ve chosen one and it’s time to register, we want to make sure we have our identification and bank statements in order. Make sure everything you put in your casino registration matches exactly with your I.D. and credit card, or you will have a difficult time when it comes time to cash out.

Choose Craps Table

While there are nowhere near the number of online craps variants as there are blackjack variants, it does seem like there is a new craps game every month or two. As we mentioned, we really enjoy the live dealer craps games, especially with the ability for real dice to be used, but you may be perfectly content with games that use the random number generator software to replicate natural dice throws.

When possible, we discuss the house advantage of different dice games. However, each game will have almost two dozen separate bets, some with more than a 15% house advantage and some with only a 0.5% house advantage, all on the same table, so a little research on your own may be needed.

Decide on the Wager Amount

Never, ever bet more than you can afford to lose. Many of these Canadian casino sites will have software allowing you to limit your daily, weekly, or monthly losses or buy-ins. Set these safeguards up long before you ever make your first come-out roll.

Once you have reviewed your budget and come up with a bankroll, you shouldn’t wager more than about 5% of that budget on one playing session.

Play Craps

There are just a lot of bets on the craps layout, but to get started, especially in a heads-up RNG game, you will need to bet either the pass line or don’t pass. This come-out roll kicks off the rest of the game. If you bet the pass line, you win if the dice roll seven or eleven but lose your pass line bet on either a two, three, or twelve rolls. Any other roll becomes the point. In order to win the pass line bet, you must roll that number again before you roll seven.

The don’t pass bet is the exact opposite except on the twelve. You lose on seven or eleven; you win on two or three. But you push on a twelve, which is what Bar the Twelve means next to the Don’t Pass bet. But just as in our example above, any other roll becomes the point, and you need the seven to roll before the number rolls again.

Rules of Craps

Land-based craps can be much more intimidating because both the house and the players have not only a lot of rules but a lot of expectations. For instance, superstitious players will tell you never to say seven on the dice table, never speak to the shooter, turn off your bets if the cocktail waitress comes around, or the stick man is tapped out for a break, and so forth and so on.

The house, in turn, will explain that you need to hit the dice against the back wall every roll, get your hands out of the layout, and don’t dangle your drink or anything else for that matter over the tables. Well, you get the idea; it’s exhausting.

With online craps, we just have the bets to make, and while on land-based games, we put a lot of trust in our dealers as we don’t always know the payouts, with online games, we needn’t ever be concerned with the dealer mispaying us. We make our pass line bet, or the don’t pass, then we have the come out roll (the first roll), and are off to the races.

Prop Bets

In the center of the table, you will notice prop or proposition bets. As the name implies, these are primarily one-roll bets on what will roll next. Any craps, any seven, horn: all of these bets are one-roll bets that pay big amounts if you roll the desired next number, but they don’t pay nearly enough to cover the true house edge and should be avoided.

Hard Way Bets

The hard way bets are not strictly one-roll bets. Here, you are betting that the dice will come exactly as pictured, not only before the seven is rolled again, but that they also won’t roll that number any other way than that pictured. For example, a hard eight means you are betting that not only will the dice roll 4/4 before a seven but also that they won’t roll a 6/2 or 5/3 either. Yes, it pays nine to one, but the house edge is a huge 9.1%, which is worse than most slots.

Come and Don’t Come

Across the middle of both sides of the crap table, you will see the Come. In land-based games, that is where we sit our place bets for the dealers to set up, our color up when we are ready to leave, or our cash when we are buying in. But in our online version, its only function is where we make the come bet. The Come is the exact same thing as the pass-line bet, but we are making it on this roll of the dice.

So, if we have a point of four, and we make a come bet, we need the dice to roll a seven or eleven to win; we will lose on a two, three, or twelve, and on any other number, our come bet moves to that number, it must roll again to win. You will find the don’t come box to the upper right or left. Again, it is marked with bar twelve, meaning that if we make this bet and the next roll is twelve, we push. We win on two or three and lose on seven or eleven. All other numbers move behind that number and win if seven rolls before the number does.

Odds

Come and don’t come, just like pass and don’t pass bets, can be bet with full odds. Odds are just chips placed behind your pass or don’t pass bet, as well as your don’t come bet. With your come bets, they are slightly off-set and placed on top. Most casinos will allow you to place a wager somewhere between 1x and 5x your original wager.

We should always take the maximum odds allowed if our bankroll allows it because this bet has no house edge. It’s almost certainly the only bet without house edge anywhere in the entire casino. On points of four and ten, you win 2/1. On points of five and nine, you win 3/2. And on points of six and eight, you win 6/5. It’s the opposite with don’t come and don’t pass bets. You must wager two to win one on points of four and ten, bet three to win two on points of five and nine, and bet six to win five on points of six and eight.

Buy Bets

Buy bets are similar to odds in what they pay. Some casinos will only allow you to take a buy bet against the four and ten; others, you can also take it against the five and nine. It will pay true odds, 2 to 1 on the four and ten and 3/2 on the five and nine, but you must pay a 5% vig on your winnings.

Place Bet

A place bet allows us to choose what number we think will roll before seven. If we like the six and eight, we can bet six units to win seven. On the five and nine, we can bet five to win seven, and on the four and ten, we can bet five to win nine. The house edge on this is 1.5%, 4.0%, and 6.6%, respectively.

Field Bet

The last bet we want to discuss is the field. It is often met with some derision from dealers and long-term players alike. You will frequently hear, “Only farmers make money in the field.” While it is certainly not the strongest of bets for the player, the house edge on the field when both two and twelve are paid double is 5.56%; the odds drop down to a much more respectable 2.78% if you can find a craps game where either the two or twelve is paid triple.

Best Online Casino Bonuses for Craps Players

Sadly many of the bonuses that you can earn for signing up at Canadian casino sites won’t be eligible if you are playing craps. But as long as you don’t mind playing some slot machines, you can still get some decent bonuses and then use that money to fund your craps game. We will discuss the most common online casino bonuses below.

Welcome Bonus

A welcome bonus will usually come in two parts. You will often find that you get a small amount, say CA$10 or $20, just to register your account and email. Then, you will be awarded a large welcome bonus when making your first deposit. Many online casinos in Canada count craps play at only 5 or 10% of the wagers towards your bonus.

Reload Bonus

You will find that many casinos also will give you a redeposit bonus if they are trying to get you to put more money into your account. While often similar in terms and conditions to the welcome bonus, this bonus usually comes quite a bit after your initial deposits and rewards you for lots of play.

Referral Bonus

Referral bonuses are often beneficial to Canadian craps players because they don’t care where you spend the referral fee. You refer a friend, and that friend signs up and makes a qualifying deposit, and you get a CA$50 to Ca$200 bonus in your account. And that’s per friend and for each casino that they sign up at, so it can be very lucrative if you’re persuasive. You are more than welcome to play online craps if you wish with your referral bonus.

Cashback Promo

If you have a high-tier level with another casino and a documented history of gambling heavily at that casino, whether online or in person, you may be eligible to get a certain cash-back percentage on all your buy-ins.

If not, you can wait for the slow season like the rest of us, which is when we usually see these types of promos to get some bets down in the weeks leading up to Christmas or in February after football ends. These may be as low as 1% or up to as high as 30%, depending on your past level of play.

Top Strategies for Online Craps

If you wish to grow your bankroll and at least have a chance at some winning sessions, you will need to stay away from those craps bets that have a considerable house advantage, like the hard ways or hop bets. Even the field doesn’t offer much value. The pass line bet with full odds and the come bets with full odds will be the best you can do most of the time.

Utilize Craps Bonuses

Use the bonuses to help pad your bankroll. You may not be able to use your craps play to qualify for some of the welcome bonuses. But you’ve earned it, so it may be better to play some slots if you have to, to make sure you get that bonus. Or just resign yourself to several hundred times your initial deposit in wagers to free up that bonus.

Referral bonuses, on the other hand, are a great way to build your bankroll. And if you have a history of play, you could probably find an online casino host that would negotiate some advantageous cashback percentages for all of your play. If used properly, these bonuses could help your bottom line.

Manage your Bankroll

Your bankroll is everything and managing it is the best strategy around. Don’t over-bet it; add to it when you can to claim bonuses or possibly be offered cashback promos. The bigger the bankroll, the quicker you can earn tier levels, comp points, and other benefits that aren’t always necessarily monetary, like hotel rooms or comped meals at land-based casinos in Windsor, Ontario, or elsewhere.

Play Craps Online for Free

Don’t forget you don’t always have to play craps for real money. Many Canadian craps casinos will let you play in demo mode, which means you can play their craps games for free. While real money craps online offers excitement and the chance to win real money, the demo games give you a chance to practice various betting strategies or presses or even learn new games or bets without having to put real money at risk.

How to Rank Online Craps Casinos in Canada

Before we begin to play craps online, it’s important to think about what type of casino we want to put our hard-earned money with. We thinking about the following factors when evaluating online casinos.

Game Security & Fair Play

The best approach here is a two-prong review to ensure that our chosen gambling sites are trustworthy and have fair games.

The first is licensing and certification. We will want to see licenses from known, trusted gaming commissions that have the highest standards and only license a casino after in-depth reviews of software code, ownership, stability of finances, and policies and procedures. If you are fortunate to live in Ontario, you can simply look for their licensing seal. Other trusted licenses are issued by the UK, Malta, Gibraltar, and Kahnawake.

Certificates are issued by independent testing agencies that ensure that all casino games and software code work as advertised. Important names to look for are eCogra, GLI, iTestLabs, BMM Test Lab, and QLI. If you see others, you can quickly research them. These certificates show that the casino takes fair play and randomness of results seriously.

The second prong uses Google reviews, Trust Pilot Scores, and even iOS and Google Play Store reviews to help build a picture of the company you are considering doing business with. While most of these review sites are filled with a lot of unhappy losers, once you get a feeling for sorting the wheat from the chaff, you can get a good sense of which casinos slow play, which ones seize accounts over slight bonus issues, or even which ones lack knowledgeable or even existent customer service departments.

Bonuses & Promos

Bonuses and promotions can take much of the sting out of a casino’s small house advantage. If we keep our craps bets to under 1%, we can use bonuses, promos, comps, and giveaways to help cover the rest.

Almost all casinos offer a welcome bonus; this is often two-part with some little money just for registering your name, address, and email. Then, you can get a 100% match bonus on your initial deposit.

This welcome bonus match can exceed CA$1,000, but larger matches are less valuable than simple, easy-to-understand terms and conditions and more minor play-through requirements.

In the past decade or so, many casinos have limited the games on which your play will qualify for these bonuses. Unfortunately, craps is one of the games that often get either a very small or none at all contribution to the play-through. But we can still play other games, then use any winnings to play craps.

Other promotions, like drawings, sweepstakes, and tournaments, can also help us recoup some of our initial investment. Earning points for comps or earning tier points can increase our comp tiers and allow us to earn points faster for things like free hotel rooms, concerts, free meals, and even cruises.

Casino Game Selection

Yes, we will want craps games with various minimums and maximums as well as different crap game variants for when we want something new. But we may also want some high Return To Player (RTP) slots in case we need to earn our bonus money on something other than dice.

We will also want live dealer games as they continue to morph and change, bringing exciting new technology to a game that for thousands of years was played with animal bones.

Payment Options & Payout Speeds

We don’t think it is asking too much to ask Canadian casinos to let you play in Canadian dollars, and we certainly don’t think you should have to make your deposit or withdrawal in anything other than Canadian dollars.

The more payout methods, the better, but this only applies if they are free. Paying for a deposit or withdrawal seems like siphoning off the money we could use on our pass-line bet.

You may see in your research that some casinos take a long time with payouts. This is unacceptable. They can’t be instant because the casino will need to review your play, but anything more than three business days is a non-starter.

Customer Support

Customer support is unlikely to have 24/7 phone service anymore. This is just a painful reflection of our times. But we think 24/7 live chat should be expected. Email-only support is another non-starter.

Mobile Opportunities

The whole point of online gambling is convenience. This means players should be able to enjoy craps from their mobile devices. A well-functioning mobile casino is non-negotiable, while many top sites in Canada also offer apps.

Final Thoughts on Online Craps Casinos in Canada

Canadian casinos have quickly evolved since 2020, and we expect many more changes in the next few years. When it comes to real money craps, we hope that there will be lots more changes to the live dealer game. We may even see bubble craps games, as we see at land-based casinos, acting as the RNG. The auto roulette game has shown the practicality and desire of customers to have something other than computer code determining the roll of the dice or the spin of the wheel, and bubble dice might fit that role nicely without having to pay a live dealer.

Casino craps may also see hybrid games where you can bet on actual gamblers at land-based casinos rolling on real money craps games. Already BETMGM is trialing hybrid roulette games like this, and casino craps is unlikely to be very far behind.

Online Craps FAQs

Got a question about playing online craps at Canadian online casinos? If so, check out the FAQs below.

Can you play craps online for real money?

There are many different variants of craps online, and you can often bet for less than CA$1. What’s more, some of the best online craps sites also offer live craps games, which many players prefer.

Which online casinos in Canada are best for craps players?

We have listed some of our favorites for the whole country right here. But number one on our list of top craps casino sites is Casumo, which offers a couple of great live craps games.

Is craps legal at online casinos in Canada?

Yes, you can legally play craps online in Canada. However, only Ontario has a regulated online gambling infrastructure in place – those in other parts of the country will need to play at offshore online casinos.

Are online craps games rigged?

The house has a built-in edge; sometimes, odd things happen, which can seem extraordinarily unlikely. For instance, if we saw 26 black numbers back to back on an online roulette game, we’d be absolutely convinced that the game was rigged, but it happened in Monte Carlo in 1913 on a real roulette wheel.

Conversely, suppose you owned an online casino and saw a gambler throw 154 rolls of the dice without sevening out. In that case, you’d probably pull the plug on the entire casino, convinced you’d been hacked, but a woman did exactly that at the Borgata in Atlantic City in 2009.

Because the house has an advantage, sometimes as much as 5% on roulette or as high as 10% on slots, it can sometimes seem like the RNG software is out to get you. However, casinos have no need to cheat, and not allowing people to win once in a while would hurt them, not help them, as people would just stop coming back.

Still, you should always play with licensed and regulated casinos, preferably those with certificates from independent labs like eCogra, GLI, or BMM. Also, if you don’t trust RNGs to accurately simulate actual dice rolls, and many real money craps players don’t, check out the new live dealer craps games. They use real dealers and have real money games with actual dice that can be played online.

Can I play craps online with a mobile device?

You can play online craps for real money with your mobile device at many Canadian casino sites. All top online casinos have mobile-optimized websites, and some also offer mobile apps.
