Rules of Craps

Land-based craps can be much more intimidating because both the house and the players have not only a lot of rules but a lot of expectations. Prop Bets

In the center of the table, you will notice prop or proposition bets. As the name implies, these are primarily one-roll bets on what will roll next. Any craps, any seven, horn: all of these bets are one-roll bets that pay big amounts if you roll the desired next number, but they don’t pay nearly enough to cover the true house edge and should be avoided.

Hard Way Bets

The hard way bets are not strictly one-roll bets. Here, you are betting that the dice will come exactly as pictured, not only before the seven is rolled again, but that they also won’t roll that number any other way than that pictured. For example, a hard eight means you are betting that not only will the dice roll 4/4 before a seven but also that they won’t roll a 6/2 or 5/3 either. Yes, it pays nine to one, but the house edge is a huge 9.1%, which is worse than most slots.

Come and Don’t Come

Across the middle of both sides of the crap table, you will see the Come. In land-based games, that is where we sit our place bets for the dealers to set up, our color up when we are ready to leave, or our cash when we are buying in. But in our online version, its only function is where we make the come bet. The Come is the exact same thing as the pass-line bet, but we are making it on this roll of the dice.

So, if we have a point of four, and we make a come bet, we need the dice to roll a seven or eleven to win; we will lose on a two, three, or twelve, and on any other number, our come bet moves to that number, it must roll again to win. You will find the don’t come box to the upper right or left. Again, it is marked with bar twelve, meaning that if we make this bet and the next roll is twelve, we push. We win on two or three and lose on seven or eleven. All other numbers move behind that number and win if seven rolls before the number does.

Odds

Come and don’t come, just like pass and don’t pass bets, can be bet with full odds. Odds are just chips placed behind your pass or don’t pass bet, as well as your don’t come bet. With your come bets, they are slightly off-set and placed on top. Most casinos will allow you to place a wager somewhere between 1x and 5x your original wager.
