The hobbled Toronto Raptors will complete their four-game homestand on Tuesday evening when they host the New Orleans Pelicans.
Toronto defeated the Charlotte Hornets, 111-106, on Sunday thanks to offensive contributions up and down the roster from six players that scored 10+ points for the fifth consecutive game. However, the win came at a cost as centre Jakob Poeltl dislocated a finger in the first half and didn’t return.

New Orleans, meanwhile, is in the midst of an impressive campaign, sitting in fifth in the Western Conference standings after a 129-102 victory over the Indiana Pacers last Friday. The Pelicans will be well-rested and prepared to face the Raptors on Tuesday as a result of the considerable layoff between games.

Forward Brandon Ingram is coming off a 34-point outburst against the Pacers and he went off against the Raptors for 41 points the last time the teams met on Feb. 5 in New Orleans. In that February contest, Ingram drained a career-high eight three-pointers as the Pelicans cruised to a 138-100 victory and easily covered the spread as 10.5-point favourites.
Ingram and big man Zion Williamson have been doing most of the damage offensively for the Pelicans this season, but the team is winning games because of its stout defence. New Orleans is ranked second in steals per game (8.3) and ninth in deflections per game (15.0). Injuries are forcing the Raptors to lean even more heavily on new additions Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett.
Quickley has recorded 10+ assists in consecutive games for the second time this season and has collected 31 total assists in his last three games, which is the most assists he has recorded in a three-game span. Quickley dished a season-high tying 11 assists against the Hornets marking his sixth game — all with Toronto — with at least 10 assists this season after having four such games in his first three NBA seasons.
Barrett recorded 23 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals in 35 minutes against the Hornets and has now scored 23 points in four consecutive games for the first time in his career.
