The first games of the 2022 MLS Season will be concluded with the MLS Finals on November 5th, 2022. At which point, the Playoffs will be concluded and we will be on the road to the MLS CUP final.

Major League Soccer has grown into one of the significant professional leagues in North America, overcoming early financial obstacles to earn a strong foothold among sports and soccer fans in Canada and the United States. Part of the reason for this success has to do with the product on the field, especially during the playoffs, when the wheat is separated from the chaff. There are three Canadian teams in Major League Soccer at the moment – Toronto FC was first to join the league, with CF Montreal (formerly Montreal Impact) and the Vancouver Whitecaps following shortly after.
Toronto spent among the most in the league to make a competitive push, buying superstars Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi, among others over the course of the season. While the two Italians provided great entertainment in the second half and make them likely contenders in 2023, the Reds had already dug themselves a deep hole at this point.
Canada’s greatest hope this year likely comes from CF Montreal, who have had a spectacular season, locking in a top-two record in the Eastern Conference and a top-three record in the total league table. The team has gotten spectacular performance from talent such as Romell Quioto, Djordje Mihailovic, veteran Kei Kamara, Canadian national Alistair Johnson, and Canadian goalkeeper James Pantemis.
Out west, the Vancouver Whitecaps will have their season decided by the final weekend, as they sit two points back of the final playoff spot. The likes of Ryan gauld, Canada’s Lucas Cavallini, Julian Gressel, and others will look to get them over the hump.

The tide is slowly changing, though; Canada’s very own Toronto FC brought the title back to the east in 2017, starting a run of four-of-five for the conference that was contributed to by Atlanta United, Columbus Crew, and New York City FC.
