The Yankees rallied Wednesday without Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and DJ LeMahieu in the lineup.
Judge has been out since June 3 when he injured his right big toe, while Stanton and LeMahieu have struggled mightily lately. Stanton is batting .196 this year and is a wretched 5-for-45 (.111 batting average) since returning from a hamstring issue on June 2. LeMahieu, a two-time batting champion in 2016 and 2020, is hitting just .232 and has been riding the pine in four of the team’s last five games.

Woo will be making his fourth career start after striking out nine last Friday against the Chicago White Sox over 5 2/3 innings. His 20 strikeouts through his first three career starts are just one shy of Felix Hernandez’s team record.
Woo boasts a high-90s fastball and an excellent sinker that have been baffling opposing hitters. His 53.9 swing % and 31.4% whiff rate are both well above the league averages.
The righty has never faced the Yankees, so he’ll have the element of surprise in this one.
New York: RHP Domingo German (4-4, 4.30 ERA, 8.48 K/9, 1.09 WHIP
German was bombed for seven runs on seven hits in two-plus innings of work in his last outing against the Boston Red Sox. However, he only allowed one run in each of his previous two outings.
The right-hander is 3-0 with a 4.22 ERA in four career appearances against the Mariners. He did face them earlier this season in May and surrendered four runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Wagers to consider
- German over 1.5 walks: -110. German has walked two or more batters in seven of his last 10 starts and is coming off a rocky outing, so he may be overly cautious, especially early in the game, with the location of his pitches. Seattle is one of the more disciplined teams at the plate in the majors, averaging 3.39 walks per game (11th in the league).
- Woo over 5.5 strikeouts: -130. As previously mentioned, Woo has electric stuff and is in position to rack up strikeouts on getaway day. New York’s bats have been quiet recently, and there’s no reason to think they’ll awaken on Thursday.
- Mariners team total over 3.5 runs: -125. Four Mariners are hitting .400 or better against German in their careers. Two of those players, Julio Rodriguez and Tom Murphy, have also homered off of him in limited at-bats.
