The second major golf championship of 2022 is almost here, so it’s time for us to bring you our free PGA Championship Betting Picks.
The male player of 2022 so far is Scottie Scheffler, so it’s no real surprise to find he’s the favourite in the latest odds to win the PGA Championship in 2022.
Depending on which sportsbooks you’re using, you may find Scheffler sharing favouritism with Jon Rahm.
Despite the Spaniard not having the greatest of starts to 2022, he’s still regarded as a threat.
Rahm has only recently lost the World Number 1 ranking to Scheffler and will be keen to get it back. And there’s no better way to tell the world you’re still the top golfer than by winning a major championship.

2022 PGA Championship; What You Need To Know
The competition this year is being held at the Southern Hills Country Club, in Oklahoma.
The tournament will be played on the club’s championship course, originally designed by Perry Maxwell, and later restored in May 2019 by Gil Hanse.
The defending champion is Phil Mickelson. It was the veteran left-hander’s sixth major, and in winning it, Mickelson also made history by becoming the oldest male to win a major at 50 years and 11 months.
Mickelson is in the field this year but isn’t expected to be a contender.
- Event; 2022 US PGA Championship
- When; Thursday, May 19th – Sunday, May 22nd
- Where; Southern Hills Country Club, Tulsa, Oklahoma
- Time; 7 am ET
The most popular golf betting market in the competition is the outright winner. Other futures bets are available such as to lead after Day 1, hole in one, to make the cut, top 5 finish, and top 10 finish.
There will also be daily betting markets on the US PGA. One very popular one is group betting. This is where the bookmakers give odds on who will win the day’s pairings.
So for example, if Tiger Woods is paired with Phil Mickelson and Justin Thomas, you would have a market for who would shoot the lowest score that day.
There are also head-to-head markets. This is where the sportsbooks pick two evenly matched golfers, and you decide who will shoot the lowest round that day.
With golf betting odds available on nearly everything you can think of a major championship, you won’t be lost for markets to place wagers on this week, that’s for sure!
2022 US PGA Championship Betting Picks
Now let’s take a look at the form of some of the main players and see if we can find some value.
Scottie Scheffler
We can’t talk about any golf championship at the moment and not mention this man. Short of falling in a bunker and injuring himself, Scheffler is a contender.
Already this year Scheffler has won the US Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and the Phoenix Open.
He has also finished second in the Hero World Challenge at the back end of 2021.
Quite simply, Scheffler has been outstanding this year and has to be taken this coming week seriously.
Winning back-to-back majors isn’t easy in golf, though. So with this in mind, my Scheffler pick is for him to finish in the top 5.
Viktor Hovland
The next golfer I’m looking at is Viktor Hovland. The Norwegian has had a great last few months and has been there or thereabouts in a lot of competitions.
Recent highs include winning the Hero World Challenge back in December, winning the Dubai Desert Classic in January, a T4 in the Genesis Open, and second at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Although Hovland has no pedigree when it comes to winning majors, he is performing well.
At odds of 19.00 with Sports Interaction, I’m taking Hovland to win each way. That way if he comes in the first five, we are in profit.

Rory McIlroy
The popular Northern Irishman is one of those names that is always there in the favourites ahead of a major.
In the last event he played, McIlroy finished fifth at the Wells Fargo Championship. Before that, he finished second to Scheffler at the Masters, although it has to be said he was never really in with a chance of winning it.
That said, it was just the confidence boost the world number 7 needed.
McIlroy has more majors in him, and I think he’s worth a few dollars at 13.00.
Corey Connors
Finally, I always like to finish my picks with a bit of a value longshot.
And an outsider who has been making a bit of a name for himself lately is Canada’s own Corey Connors.
It’s almost an insult to call him an outsider.
Anyway, outsider or not, with a T6 at the Masters last month, I’m taking Corey Connors at 36.00 each way for my final pick.
