In a sense, both Jones and Cormier are gunning for revenge. Jones is out to reclaim his UFC title, which he never really lost and the fact it was stripped from him for punitive reasons should only motivate him. Cormier wants to avenge his only loss against Jones. The former Olympian has conquered every obstacle before him but Jones. The first fight finished with Jones getting the best of Cormier but as his post-fight antics indicated, the rivalry was far from over. This rematch should present more of the same with some slight differences… Get ready for some UFC 200 betting!
Cormier vs Jones UFC 200 Betting Odds
The first fight played out a lot differently than what many expected. Jones closed as a betting favorite, the smallest he’s been since winning the title. Cormier, a former heavyweight, was expected to be able to keep the fight close by utilizing his powerful wrestling but it was in fact Jones who outwrestled him. Cormier was unable to wrestle with Jones at all only being successful in one of his eight takedown attempts with it coming in the dying minutes of the fight.
Jones on the other hand, quickly took Cormier down and landed three of his five attempts. Jones was simply too crafty and too big for Cormier.

Jon Jones -265 @SportsInteraction
In this rematch, Jones is a bigger favorite for good reasons. Despite the one-and-a-half-year difference from their first fight, both fighters remain mostly the same. Jones has bulked up and focused on strength training during his time-off. This may have led to mixed results as he showed in his fight against Ovince Saint Preux. Jones looked slow and didn’t have the same endurance he used to have. This could have been “ring rust” and the longtime of inactivity catching up to him or his additional body weight may have permanently changed his physical performance. Only his fight against Cormier will tell.
Cormier has developed a stronger mindset as a fighter now especially after his grueling wars with Anthony “Rumble” Johnson and Alexander Gustafsson. The American Kickboxing Academy product was hurt several times in both fights but stood tall and won both over the course of time. If Cormier is one thing, he is very durable and won’t relent. But in order to beat Jones, he’ll need to be able to continually pressure him, cut the cage and test his endurance.
If Jones comes in sluggish like he did against Saint Preux, Cormier may be brewing an upset. Cormier will need to fight the fight of his life.

While Cormier has grown more confident as a fighter, he still faces the same disadvantages he had in their previous fight. Jones will still be the bigger and rangier fighter who also has the better corner in Greg Jackson. At best, Cormier can hope to steal some rounds from Jones by constantly sticking to him and beating him up in the clinch. He can try to take him down but Jones will likely just get back up and if the fight stays at Jones’s range, he’ll pick apart Cormier. Either way, Jones is the likelier winner here.
