Betting Dallas Cowboys (1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS, 3-0 o/u)

It’s been a disappointing start to the 2024 campaign for the Cowboys after dropping back-to-back games since besting the Cleveland Browns in their season opener. Needing to remain competitive within their division, look for the Cowboys to bring their A-game in tonight’s primetime clash.

The Cowboys haven’t been the most reliable team in the league when it comes to backing them to win, having failed to cover the spread in their last two games played, as well as losing their lone game as a favourite in 2024. However, the Cowboys have been sensational in terms of hitting the Over, having had all three of their games exceed the projected point total line for an average of 55.3 total points per game.

Opening as strong favourites against the Giants, the Cowboys will hope to get back into the win column, improving both their regular season record, as well as their betting resume in 2024.

Betting New York Giants (1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS, 0-3 o/u)

Expectations were set low for the Giants heading into the 2024 season, but already the G-Men have proven to be a feisty squad that is ripe to pull off an upset. After besting the Cleveland Browns in a surprise victory in Week 3, the Giants will look to make it back-to-back wins as an underdog as they hope to reach .500 for the first time since 2022.

Betting on the Giants hasn’t been the most steady option through three weeks of play, having failed to cover the spread consistently as an underdog, aside from last week’s outright victory over the Browns. Unlike their high-scoring counterparts in the Cowboys, the Giants have been a part of several low-scoring battles to begin their 2024 season.

Having hit the Under in all three of their games played, the Giants currently average 36.3 total points per game, with none of their final scores exceeding 40.

Likely needing to rely on their rock-solid defence in order to give themselves a fighting chance against the Cowboys, the G-Men will need to pull out all the stops in order to keep things close as they attempt to best the Cowboys for the first time since 2021.

Betting Mismatch

Looking to abuse a banged up secondary, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott could be set for a big night against the Giants. Having found no shortage of success against the Cowboys throughout his career, Prescott to throw Over 1.5 touchdowns is a great bet to make on tonight’s primetime tilt.

Having passed for two or more touchdowns in six of his last nine meetings against the G-Men, Prescott has taken pleasure in dismantling his divisional foe. With 27 touchdown passes total in 14 games played against the Giants, Dak falls just under two passing touchdowns per game with an average of 1.9 TDs per contest.

Hot off the heels of a strong showing against a tough Ravens defence that saw him throw two darts into the end zone, look for Prescott to make it back-to-back games played with Over 1.5 passing touchdowns.

Key Injuries

Heading into their primetime clash with the G-Men, the Cowboys have a few players that are questionable to compete in their upcoming game. The biggest question mark is on the defensive line as Demarcus Lawrence is dealing with a shoulder injury, but is projected to start on Thursday night. The Cowboys defensive front has already taken a big blow after losing defensive tackle Jordan Phillips to the IR, missing Lawrence as well would be a massive loss to their defence.

For the Giants, they are healthy for the most part, but do have a few key players holding a questionable designation. Wide receiver Darius Slayton, defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, and a trio of corners in Dru Phillips, Nick McCloud, and Adoree’ Jackson were all limited participants in practice this week, but should be good to go for Thursday Night Football barring any sudden setbacks.

Weather

Hoping to stay out of the rain, the weather in East Rutherford, New Jersey is set to be cloudy on Thursday Night Football with potential showers late in the evening. The temperature should remain a balmy 22 C with very light winds.

  • The Cowboys have won six straight head-to-head matchups against the Giants by at least seven points.
  • Dallas was tied for the best ATS record in the NFL in divisional play, going 5-1 against NFC East opponents.
  • In 2023, the Giants were 5-2-1 against the spread as a home underdog.
  • Since 2019, the Giants have an 11-17 record SU coming off of a win.
  • CeeDee Lamb has averaged 105.2 receiving yards per game against the Giants in his last four meetings. His line is currently set at 80 yards (-118).
  • Rico Dowdle hasn’t recorded a game with more than eight rushing attempts through three weeks. His line is currently set at 9.5 (-111).
  • Daniel Jones has thrown at least one interception in two of his last three starts against the Cowboys. You can bet on him to continue this trend at -120 at BetVictor.
  • Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers has averaged 90.3 receiving yards through his first three career games played. The standout receiver currently has his line priced at 69.5 receiving yards (-118).

Cowboys vs. Giants predictions

  • Having found no shortage of success against the Giants over the past three seasons, bank on the Cowboys to keep on dominating their division rivals on Thursday Night Football. Possessing the better team on both sides of the football, the Cowboys are a great bet to cover the 5.5-point spread as favourites.
  • While both teams have had very different starts to their season in terms of points scored, hammer the Under on the Cowboys vs. Giants on Thursday Night Football. With the Cowboys primed to carry the load when it comes to scoring, look for this lopsided final score to result in Under 45.5 points as the Giants continue their trend of finishing with Under the projected point total four weeks running.
